From Sparkle to ROOTZ: The Evolution of Surat’s Jewellery Industry Expedition

2008,

Surat’s journey to becoming the “Jewellery Hub of India” was officially inaugurated as Sparkle International, a comprehensive B2B and B2C platform, was born. Backed by a subsidy of 2 Cr received by SGCCI and endorsed as the “Curtain Raiser Event of Vibrant Summit” by Prime Minister Modi, the city’s potential in the world of gems and jewellery was firmly established.

Over the years, the participation in Sparkle International continued to grow, with Surat Jewellery Manufacturers Association (SJMA) emerging as a key player. The involvement of SJMA in the event played a pivotal role in shaping the city’s reputation as a jewellery manufacturing powerhouse.

2017,

a significant milestone was reached with the establishment of SJMA. With the cooperative efforts of SJMA and SGCCI; Sparkle International further solidified Surat’s position as a jewellery manufacturing epicenter. In this edition, 80% of the booths were occupied by SJMA members, highlighting their active contribution.

2021

marked a pivotal moment when SJMA organized its first independent B2B exhibition, “GJMS,” exclusively designed for jewellery manufacturers. The event showcased 105 stalls, representing a significant step towards self-reliance, as the subsidy was no longer required.

2022,

the exhibition witnessed a transformation with the adoption of a new identity “ROOTZ – India’s unique Gem & Jewellery B2B Expo”. This edition expanded with 185 stalls, reflecting the growing influence and independence of the jewellery industry in Surat.

2023,

ROOTZ is gearing up for its Season 3, with ambitions to be a part of G20. This marks the continued evolution of Surat’s jewellery industry expedition with over 225 stalls expected, the event’s potential is reaching new heights, backed by an anticipated subsidy exceeding 2 Cr.
