Brining back the charm: How the richest Indian wedding revived the love for emeralds

OUT OF THE WORLD JEWELLERY THAT WE EXPERIENCED AT INDIA'S RICHEST WEDDING

From custom fashions to priceless jewels, the wedding of Anant Ambani, son of India's richest man witnessed a glamour that is unmatched and probably will forever be. The glitz, the glamour, the events, social media moments were certainly noteworthy, but what sparkled even more were the emeralds, family heirlooms and custom jewellery that almost needed their own security detail.

The glitz ,the glamour, the events, social media moments were certainly note worthy, but what sparkled even more were the emeralds, family heirlooms and custom jewellery that almost needed their own security detail.

While Radhika Merchant and Anant Ambani were the highlights of the celebration, it was their mother (in-law) who stole the show. She wore a 100 carat yellow diamond necklace for the wedding that had taken around 100 hours to create. In fact, she can be credited with bringing the spotlight back on Emeralds by donning an emerald and diamond necklace, studded with pairs of emeralds and terminating in two veritable bricks of the gleaming green gemstones.

The matriarch of the family might have been the centrestage, but the bride and groom too were not very far behind. Anant Ambani wore an opulent panther brooch featuring a panther (studded with diamonds) crouching on a 720-carat Zambian emerald. Radhika Merchant changed her jewellery with every look of hers, with a 20 year old heirloom consisting of a gold and polki choker, necklace and earrings set from Roopchand Jewels glimmering the most during her pheras.

Opulence was all around at the wedding with sister in law Isha Ambani wore a necklace named ‘Garden of Love’ crafted by Kantilal Chhotalal which took around 4000 hours for the artisans to complete and features rare pink, blue, green and orange diamonds shaped like a garden.

A wedding that was watched by the whole world, it's no surprise that right from the new couple to the guests, everyone tried to shimmer in their best (couture and jewelry alike).
