Putting Surat at the centre of Retailer’s Map

Surat has always been known as the hub of diamonds and textile. But with the city now gaining the reputation of being a jewellery manufacturing hub, the Surat Jewellery Manufacturing Association held two editions of Jewellery Week in order to provide jewellery retailers across the country direct access to the manufacturers.

500+ jewellery manufacturing units. That’s the number of units Surat boasts of, which employs around 9 lakh+ people and has 35000+ families associated with the jewellery industry. Adapting to rapid technological developments and engaging skilled craftspeople, Surat has gained the reputation of being a manufacturing centre that has a value output of around Rs.77,715 Crore from the gems and jewellery sector.

With such capacity at hand, it seemed only poignant for the Surat Jewellery Manufacturing Association to conduct a Jewellery Week to offer an insightful and immersive experience at the various manufacturing facilities of the city.

GOALS OF THE JEWELLERY WEEK

The goal of the week was to foster strong partnerships and provide retailers with an in-depth understanding of the city’s manufacturing units’ commitment to quality and craftsmanship . Throughout the week, retailers were provided with an opportunity to explore state-of-theart manufacturing processes, meet the skilled artisans, and witness firsthand the meticulous care that goes into creating exquisite jewellery.

Attending the SJMA event was truly eye-opening. Visiting manufacturing setups and witnessing diamond cutting & polishing, alongside learning about LGD manufacturing, provided invaluable insights. I was particularly impressed by the industry’s innovation & dedication to craftsmanship.

SJMA Jewellery Week has been a very thoughtful event for retailers and manufacturing, as in most b2b exhibitions visiting stalls and design selection could be cumbersome , whereas in SJMA it was a very personalised experience.

Not just selection of designs but also witnessing the manufacturing facilities gives confidence of dealing with ease and trust.

I congratulate SJMA for conducting this wonderful visit to about 24 Jewellery manufacturing units at Surat between 15 to 21st July 24. This effort will help both Jewellers and manufacturers increase their business and update designs.
